Restaurant & Hospitality Insurance
Ricci Insurance Group is an independent insurance agency in Jacksonville, Florida that insures restaurants, bars, cafés, caterers and hotels. You take care of your guests. We take care of the insurance behind the scenes, with real people you can reach by name.
Hospitality runs on thin margins. Your insurance should not add to the worry.
One kitchen fire, one guest injury or one bad week without power can put a restaurant in a hard spot. Good coverage is what gets the doors back open.
We get to know how your place actually runs: what you serve, whether you pour, who delivers, what your lease requires. Then we coordinate your liability, liquor, property and workers' compensation so the pieces work together, even when they sit with different programs, and we look after them as you grow, add a location or change your concept.

What insurance does a restaurant or hospitality business need?
Every operation is different. These are the coverages we talk about most with restaurant and hospitality owners. Your agent will recommend what fits yours.
General Liability
For guest injuries and property damage claims, including slips, falls and foodborne illness, plus your legal defense.
Liquor Liability
If you sell or serve alcohol, this covers claims tied to an intoxicated guest. General liability usually excludes it.
Property
Your building or build-out, kitchen equipment, furniture and inventory after a fire, storm or other covered loss.
Equipment Breakdown
Repair or replacement when a walk-in cooler, oven or HVAC system fails mechanically or electrically.
Food Spoilage
Replaces perishable stock lost when refrigeration fails or the power goes out, depending on how the policy is written.
Business Income
Helps replace lost income and pay ongoing expenses while you are closed for repairs after a covered loss.
Workers' Compensation
Medical care and lost wages for employees hurt on the job, from kitchen burns and cuts to slips and strains.
Employment Practices Liability
For claims from employees alleging wrongful termination, discrimination or harassment.

Questions we hear most
Does a restaurant need liquor liability insurance?
If your restaurant sells or serves alcohol, yes, you should carry liquor liability insurance. A general liability policy typically excludes alcohol-related claims for businesses that sell or serve it. Landlords, lenders and licensing authorities often require it too, and the rules vary by state.
Does restaurant insurance cover food spoilage after a power outage?
Only if your policy includes spoilage coverage, and it depends on what caused the outage. Many policies cover spoilage from equipment breakdown on your premises, while an outage that starts with the utility company usually needs a separate utility interruption endorsement. Your agent can confirm which you have.
Are my delivery drivers covered?
If employees deliver in their own cars, hired and non-owned auto coverage protects the business when it is sued over an accident. It does not cover the employee's own vehicle. If you own delivery vehicles, you need a commercial auto policy. Orders delivered by third-party apps are generally the app's responsibility.
What does business income insurance cover if my restaurant has to close?
Business income insurance helps replace lost income and pay continuing expenses such as rent and payroll while you are closed for repairs after a covered loss, such as a fire. It usually starts after a short waiting period and does not apply to closures that are not caused by covered physical damage.
Requirements vary by state and by policy. See all business insurance, or other industries we work with: Contractors, Real Estate Investors, Medical & Wellness.
