You cannot start the job without the right paperwork. We make that part easy.

For a contractor, insurance decides whether you can pull the permit, sign the contract and get on site. When a general contractor asks for a certificate by Friday, you need an agency that answers.

We learn what kind of work you do, who you work for and what your contracts require. Then we coordinate your general liability, workers' compensation, commercial auto, tools and bonds so the pieces work together, even when they sit with different programs, and we keep them current as you add crews, trucks and bigger jobs.

Coverage

What insurance does a contractor need?

Every contractor is different. These are the coverages we talk about most with contractors. Your agent will recommend what fits your work and your contracts.

General Liability

For injuries and property damage your work causes, including completed operations claims that show up after the job is done.

Workers' Compensation

Medical care and lost wages for employees hurt on the job. Requirements for contractors vary by state, and we help you sort out what applies.

Commercial Auto

For trucks, vans and trailers titled to the business, from one work truck to a full fleet.

Tools & Equipment

Inland marine coverage for tools, equipment and materials that travel to the job site or sit in a trailer.

Builder's Risk

Covers a structure and materials while a project is under construction or renovation.

Bonds

License and permit bonds, plus bid, performance and payment bonds for contract work.

Umbrella

Extra liability limits above your general liability and auto policies, often required on larger jobs.

Professional Liability

For design-build and construction management work, where an error in plans or advice causes a financial loss.

Why Us

Why work with Ricci Insurance Group?

We speak contractor

Additional insureds, waivers of subrogation, per-project limits, audits. We read what your contract asks for and make sure your coverage and your certificate match it.

Here if a claim gets complicated

Our carrier partners do a great job handling claims. In the rare case there is a dispute or something stalls, we are here to step in and help you get it resolved.

Independent, so you have choices

We are not tied to one insurance company. We compare several carriers for you and explain the differences in plain language, so you end up with personalized protection and real value.

Locally owned and operated

We started in Jacksonville in 2014 and we are still locally owned and operated. Once your coverage is in place, you keep working with the same team that knows your business. You are never handed off to a call center. We are proud to be an Inc. 5000 honoree and a Jacksonville Business Journal Fast 50 and Best Places to Work company.

How do we get started?

  1. Connect with an agent

Fill out the Connect With an Agent form or just call. In our first call, we will ask you about your operations, payroll, revenue and other exposures.
  2. We do the legwork

Our commercial agents take your business to the insurance companies that fit your industry best.
  3. We make a recommendation

We do not hand you a stack of quotes to sort through. We recommend the program we think is the best fit for your business and explain why.
  4. We stay with you

Certificates, audits and policy changes, plus help if a claim gets complicated. You always have someone to call.

Questions we hear most

What insurance do I need to get on a job site?

Most general contractors and property owners ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability, workers' compensation and commercial auto, and sometimes an umbrella. Many also require that they be named as an additional insured and that you provide a waiver of subrogation. Your contract sets the exact terms.

Do I need workers' compensation if I only use subcontractors?

Often, yes. Workers' compensation rules for contractors vary by state. In many states, if a subcontractor does not carry their own coverage, their payroll can be charged to your policy at audit, and you can be responsible for their injuries. Collect a current certificate of insurance from every subcontractor.

What is completed operations coverage?

Completed operations coverage is the part of a general liability policy that responds to injury or damage claims that come up after a job is finished, such as a leak from work you completed months ago. It is one reason contractors should keep their general liability coverage continuous.

What is the difference between a bond and insurance?

Insurance protects your business from its own losses. A surety bond is a guarantee to someone else, such as a licensing board or a project owner, that you will meet your obligations. If the surety pays a claim on your bond, you are expected to repay it. You can start a bond quote online.

Requirements vary by state and by policy. See all business insurance, or other industries we work with: Restaurants & Hospitality, Real Estate Investors, Medical & Wellness.
