Commercial Auto & Fleet Insurance
Ricci Insurance Group is an independent insurance agency in Jacksonville, Florida that insures business vehicles, from one work truck to a full fleet. When your business is on the road, we make sure the vehicles, the drivers and the business behind them are covered.
If your business is on the road, your coverage has to keep up with it.
A personal auto policy is written for personal driving. Whether a vehicle belongs on a commercial auto policy depends on who owns it and how it is used. This is one of the most common gaps we find when a business is growing.
We look at what you drive, who drives it, what it carries and where it goes. Then we coordinate your commercial auto with your general liability and umbrella so the pieces work together.

Coverage
What does commercial auto insurance cover?
Every business uses its vehicles differently. These are the coverages we talk about most. Your agent will recommend what fits your vehicles and your drivers.
Liability
For injuries and property damage your driver causes to others, plus your legal defense. Required limits vary by state and by the type of vehicle.
Physical Damage
Collision and comprehensive coverage for damage to your own vehicles, including theft, weather and vandalism. Anything added to a vehicle, such as attached equipment or a vehicle wrap, needs to be accounted for.
Uninsured Motorist
Protects you and your drivers when the at-fault driver has no insurance or not enough.
Medical Payments
Medical costs for you and your passengers after an accident. The form this takes varies by state.
Hired & Non-Owned Auto
Protects the business when employees drive rented vehicles or their own cars for work.
Cargo, Tools & Equipment
What you carry is generally not covered by the auto policy. Tools, equipment and goods in transit need their own coverage.
Rental & Downtime
Helps pay for a substitute vehicle while yours is being repaired after a covered loss.
Umbrella
Extra liability limits above your commercial auto policy, for the serious accident.

Questions we hear most
Do I need commercial auto insurance if I use my personal vehicle for work?
It depends on how you use it. Personal auto policies often limit or exclude business use such as making deliveries, carrying tools and materials to job sites, or transporting clients. We evaluate both who owns the vehicle and how it is used.
What is hired and non-owned auto coverage?
Hired and non-owned auto coverage protects your business when an employee causes an accident while driving a rented vehicle or their own car for work. It covers the business's liability. It does not pay to repair the employee's own vehicle.
How many vehicles make a fleet?
It varies by insurance company. Many treat five or more vehicles as a fleet, and others set the mark at ten or more. Your agent can tell you how your vehicles will be treated.
Are the tools and equipment in my truck covered?
Generally, no. A commercial auto policy covers the vehicle. Equipment attached to it, and additions such as a vehicle wrap, need to be reported so they are accounted for. Tools, portable equipment and materials you carry are usually insured separately, on an inland marine policy, often called tools and equipment coverage.
Requirements vary by state and by policy. See all business insurance, or related pages: Workers' Compensation, Bonds, Contractors.
