Why Insurance Advocacy Matters for Florida Families and Business Owners

In 2022, Florida’s insurance market was on life support.

Carriers were pulling back, rates were accelerating, and coverage options were shrinking. For homeowners and business owners, stability felt harder to find with every renewal.

That was the moment our industry had a choice. We could react to the chaos, or we could step forward and advocate for meaningful reform.

At Ricci Insurance Group, we chose advocacy because protecting our clients requires more than shopping policies. It requires fighting for a healthier insurance system that works long term.

Advocacy Is Practical, Not Political

This week, I spent time in Tallahassee for Capitol Days with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents, alongside insurance professionals from across the state.

We met directly with leaders who help shape Florida’s future and influence the stability of the insurance market.

Our message was clear and consistent. Standing firm on existing tort reform matters.

The progress made over the last few years has had a measurable impact. Protecting those reforms is essential for market stability, affordability, and long-term consumer benefit. Undoing them would put Florida homeowners and business owners right back into crisis conditions.

How Advocacy Directly Benefits Our Clients

For busy families and business owners, insurance reform is not theoretical. It shows up in real ways that affect daily life and financial security.

Clients benefit from increased carrier participation, more consistent underwriting, improved long term pricing trends, and a claims environment that functions as intended.

When the market is healthier, we can do our job better. That means more options, better guidance, and fewer surprises at renewal. Advocacy allows us to serve our clients proactively instead of constantly reacting to instability.

Investing in the Future of the Insurance Industry

One of the highlights of Capitol Days was learning more about a proposed workforce pathway bill that would allow high school students to take an elective course that fulfills the pre licensing requirements for the 440 Insurance Customer Service Representative license.

Introducing students early to how insurance works opens the door to stable, professional career paths while strengthening the future of the industry. A stronger talent pipeline leads to better service, better education, and better outcomes for consumers.

Why This Matters for Jacksonville Families and Businesses

For homeowners and business owners in Jacksonville, choosing an insurance agency is about more than finding a policy. It is about working with an advisor who understands the full landscape, including market conditions, legislative changes, and long-term risk.

Advocacy is part of how we serve our clients well.

By investing time when the industry needed leadership most, we are better positioned today to protect our clients, guide them with clarity, and help create a more stable insurance environment for the future.

Thank you to the FAIA team for organizing a strong Capitol Days event and continuing to advocate for Florida homeowners, business owners, and the insurance professionals who serve them.

If you are looking for a Jacksonville insurance agency that prioritizes advocacy, education, and long- term client protection, this work is central to how we operate every day.
